Board of Directors

Step in while we’re building

The RSU 22 Education Foundation has been brought back to life and is actively rebuilding. Directors who join now won’t just “fill a seat”—you’ll help steer the foundation, set smart standards, and put durable systems in place for years to come. If you’ve never served on a board before, perfect. We value fresh perspective, plain-English questions, and people who learn fast and follow through.

Who this is ideal for?

If you enjoy asking smart questions, shaping strategy, and cheering on teachers, you’ll fit right in. Give 2–5 focused hours a month to help steer the Foundation, approve mini-grants, and open doors in the community.

What the role involves

  • Governance & oversight. Set strategy, approve budgets and mini-grants, and ensure strong stewardship of donor funds.
  • Ambassadorship. Be a visible champion—welcome partners, thank donors, and open doors in the community.
  • Committee work. Serve on at least one committee (Grants, Development, Finance, Governance, or Marketing/Outreach).
  • Fundraising participation. Make a personally meaningful annual gift and help with outreach, events, or introductions.
  • Accountability. Show up prepared, uphold bylaws, and practice duty of care, loyalty, and obedience.

Time commitment (realistic)

  • Board meetings: 10-11 per year, ~60–90 minutes (evenings; hybrid/in-person).
  • Committee service: ~1 hour/month on average (more during grant cycles or event months).
  • Events/Outreach: 2–3 activities per year.
Estimated total: ~2–5 hours/month, with seasonal spikes.

New to boards? We’ll set you up to succeed

  • Onboarding: Welcome video + 45–60 min orientation with the Board Chair.
  • Plain-English tools: Sample motions, budget walkthrough, mini-grant rubric, and a simple glossary.
  • Choose your lane: We’ll match you to a committee that fits your strengths and bandwidth.

Term & basics

  • Term length: 1–3 years (renewable).
  • Attendance: Aim to attend all meetings; notify if you can’t.
  • Conflicts: Disclose and recuse when needed—no drama, just good governance.

Why join the RSU22 Education Foundation?

Real impact, quickly. Your votes fund classroom projects and student opportunities you can see.

Shape the foundation. Help build the playbooks, partnerships, and culture we’ll run on.

Grow your leadership. Governance, finance, and nonprofit skills you’ll use anywhere.

Community connection. Work with neighbors across our four towns who care about students and educators.

Flexible and doable. A handful of hours a month that matter.
